Greys Recruitment seeks an experienced Foreman to oversee stevedoring operations at Port Elizabeth. You will coordinate ship and shore activities, supervise labour, and ensure cargo is stowed, lashed and secured safely in line with procedures.

The role requires 1+ year of stevedoring experience, crane and forklift operator certifications, and the ability to work shifts including weekends while maintaining safety and productivity.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 is required.
• At least 1 year of stevedoring experience.
• Certified Crane Operator.
• Certified Forklift Operator.
• Computer literate.
• Willing and able to work shifts, weekends and operational hours as required.
• Strong communication and people-management skills.
• Good understanding of safe working practices.

Responsabilités

• Plan, coordinate and manage the lashing and securing of cargo.
• Plan the stowing and discharging of cargo, considering load balances, stoppages and special instructions.
• Coordinate ship and shore operations.
• Supervise stevedoring operations on vessels and wharf to ensure efficient use of manpower and resources.
• Supervise labour on board vessels and wharf to ensure operations are safe and efficient.
• Monitor safe stowage, lashing and securing of cargo and safety standards.
• Plan and manage utilisation of people, equipment and resources.
• Liaise with customers, vessel crew and transport personnel.
• Attend daily operational meetings on board vessels.
• Monitor and maintain safe working standards throughout operations.
• Ensure correct handling, safekeeping and return of gear and equipment to stores.
• Complete required operational administration (Green Cards, DWRs, Incident Reports, etc.).
• Apply and maintain disciplinary and operational procedures.
