Job summary

Greys Personnel is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to safely operate 3-ton and 7-ton forklifts during cargo handling and vessel loading/offloading. The role requires practical forklift experience, a strong safety mindset, and clear radio communication with the operations team.

The candidate should be able to work shifts, be available immediately, and reside in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) or surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Certified Forklift Operator with 2 years' practical forklift operating experience.
• Experience operating 3-ton and 7-ton forklifts.
• Sound knowledge of safety practices and operating procedures.
• Effective radio communication in IsiXhosa, English and Afrikaans.
• Able to work shifts, overtime when required.
• Willing to reside in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) or surrounding areas.
• Immediate availability is essential.
• Code 08 driver's licence will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate 3-ton and 7-ton forklifts.
• Assist with loading and offloading vessels and cargo.
• Handle, move and position cargo safely and efficiently.
• Follow all safety and operating procedures as directed by Foreman.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and communicate with the team via radio.
• Perform pre-use inspections and report defects or safety concerns.
• Work with Foreman and others to ensure smooth vessel and wharf-side operations.
• Maintain a professional, safety-conscious and productive approach at all times.
