Job summary

Pronel Personnel is recruiting an experienced Logistics Yard Controller to oversee daily yard operations, including staging, loading, offloading and dispatch of fabricated steel components. You will coordinate with Production, Dispatch and Stores to ensure on-time, safe movement of materials.

The role requires at least 5 years in logistics or yard supervision, strong leadership, and proficiency in Excel and ERP systems. Outdoor work and extended peak hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years in logistics or yard supervision, preferably in steel fabrication, construction or manufacturing.
• Proven team leadership and coordination experience.
• Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging and load-securing procedures.
• Ability to interpret dispatch lists and loading documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as SAGE.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily yard, loading and offloading activities.
• Coordinate loading schedules and dispatch priorities.
• Ensure accurate and safe loading of trucks and trailers.
• Manage yard layout, stock staging and material flow.
• Supervise yard crew and enforce safety and housekeeping standards.
• Monitor forklifts, cranes and rigging equipment.
• Conduct pre-dispatch checks and maintain accurate yard movement records.
• Report delays, damage, discrepancies and safety concerns.
• Ensure drivers comply with yard safety procedures.
