Responsibilities

• Assist with competitions, tournaments and events.

• Monitor golf etiquette, course rules, cart restrictions and safety requirements.
• Assist golfers with information and direction while maintaining a visible professional presence.

We are looking for a professional, confident and service-driven Starter / Marshal to support the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the golf course. The role combines Starter and Marshal responsibilities, with team members rotating between functions according to the daily roster and operational requirements.

THE ROLE

Starter

• Welcome members and guests and manage the first tee professionally and efficiently.
• Manage tee times, starting intervals and the daily tee sheet.
• Ensure golfers tee off in the correct order and at the correct time.
• Communicate course conditions, local rules, weather and operational updates.
• Coordinate tee-time changes, cancellations, late arrivals and special requests.
• Assist with competitions, tournaments and special events.

Marshal

• Monitor the pace and flow of play across the golf course.
• Provide professional pace-of-play guidance and manage delays or congestion.
• Support Par 3, NTP and LD requirements.
• Monitor golf etiquette, course rules, cart restrictions and safety requirements.
• Assist golfers with information and direction while maintaining a visible professional presence.
• Report hazards, damage, maintenance concerns, incidents and safety issues.

MEMBER & GUEST EXPERIENCE

• Deliver friendly, professional and consistent service.
• Communicate confidently and respectfully with members and guests.
• Handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
• Apply rules and procedures fairly and consistently.
• Resolve minor issues appropriately and escalated matters when required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Previous experience in golf, hospitality, customer service or a similar environment.
• Good knowledge of golf and golf etiquette.

• Confidence when interacting with members and guests.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Good organisational skills and basic computer literacy.

THE ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on, outdoor role requiring flexibility and operational awareness. The position involves early mornings, weekends and public holidays, as well as competitions, tournaments and special events. You will spend significant time outdoors and walking or travelling around the golf course, often in varying weather conditions.
