Job summary

EdUpStairs in Cape Town is recruiting a Staff Nurse (Grade 1–3) to provide basic patient care and support clinical teams across wards. You will apply standard SOPs, participate in night shifts when required, and help optimise use of resources while upholding professional ethics.

Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Staff Nurse is mandatory, with grade-based experience expectations, and a willingness to work weekends and public holidays as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

Salary: Grade 1: R229 440 per annum; Grade 2: R272 778 per annum; Grade 3: R319 071 per annum

Requirements

• Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
• Registration with a professional council: Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
• Experience: Grade 1: None.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Staff Nurse with the SANC.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years appropriate / recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Staff Nurse with the SANC.
• Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, night duty and overtime when necessary.
• Willingness to rotate between wards within hospital.
• Competencies (knowledge/skills): Basic communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to function as part of a team.
• Enhance patient care through the implementation of SOP’s, policies, and guidelines.
