Job summary

Overseas is seeking a Staff Accountant to run the monthly accounting cycle for a simulated portfolio of small, owner-managed clients, from payroll to reconciled books and VAT/payroll returns. You will document the steps and judgments behind your work so an AI system can learn from them.

The role involves designing and testing workflows the AI follows, working directly with the founder and an AI partner. This long-term, permanent position is 100% remote and paid in USD bi-monthly.

Qualifications

• BCom in Accounting or equivalent.
• 0–2 years in accounting practice or finance team.
• Hands-on month-end experience.
• Working knowledge of SA VAT, PAYE, SDL, UIF, EMP201 and VAT201.

Responsibilities

• Run the monthly accounting cycle for simulated clients.
• Document steps and decisions for AI training.
• Prepare payroll and EMP201 & VAT201 submissions.
• Draft monthly management reports and VAT201/return.
• Maintain file management and quality control of packs.
