Overseas is seeking a Staff Accountant to run the monthly accounting cycle for a simulated portfolio of small, owner-managed clients, from payroll to reconciled books, with an emphasis on designing and testing AI-ready workflows.

You will document steps and judgments so an AI system can learn from them, designing monthly workflows and testing AI outputs. This is a long-term, permanent role working directly with the founder and an AI partner in frontier AI accounting.

Competenze

• 0–2 years in an accounting practice or finance team including completed articles or a learnership in progress
• Hands-on month-end experience including capture, bank reconciliations, journals, and management reports
• Working knowledge of South African VAT, PAYE, SDL, UIF and EMP201 and VAT201 returns
• Confident with double entry; can post journals and explain why a bank reconciliation may not balance
• Strong Excel skills including lookups, pivot tables, and cleaning up CSV files with irregular layouts
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven; tax dates and payday fixed

Mansioni

• Run the monthly accounting cycle for simulated clients from payroll to reconciled books and management reports
• Prepare VAT working and VAT201 returns every second month and support payments
• Draft the monthly management report with income statement and balance sheet, plus a short commentary
• Record steps and judgments so an AI model can learn from your workflow
• Review AI partner outputs, close the month, and save final versions
• Ensure file management and quality control across all packs and periods
