Job summary

Moving Heads Personnel in Johannesburg seeks a reporting specialist to design and deliver operational reports across the business unit. You will translate business needs to IT solutions, develop reports and scripts, and optimize SQL performance while maintaining report integrity.

Collaborating with DBAs and other IT teams, you will ensure a unified reporting strategy, participate in change processes, and communicate deliverables clearly.

Qualifications

• IT and report writing experience; Microsoft SQL Server certification preferred.
• Microsoft SQL Server programming skills: 4 - 6 years experience.
• Microsoft Power BI experience preferred: 2 - 3 years experience.
• Microsoft Reporting Services experience preferred: 2 - 3 years experience.
• Experience with databases from a wide variety of vendors and database platforms (MS SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, and Oracle).
• XML/XSL experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Examine and evaluate operational reporting requirements across the business unit.
• Analyze reporting requirements and document the desired solution or recommendations.
• Translate reporting requirements between business and the technology/tools to deliver on those requirements.
• Develop reports, scripts and procedures according to business requirements.
• Ensure quality via constant testing and reviews of reports; optimize SQL performance without compromising integrity.
• Interact with reporting resources to maintain a single reporting strategy.
• Collaborate with technology teams and DBAs to maintain reporting continuity.
• Participate in change processes to improve testing efficiency.
• Formalize communication to ensure accurate reporting on deliverables.
• Sign off on reporting deliverables according to specifications.
• Work with business analysts, product owners and IT to maximize project delivery success.
• Report and estimate development timelines.
• Continue to build knowledge of reporting technologies and methods.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Examine and evaluate Operational reporting requirements for various stakeholders across the business unit.
• Analyze reporting requirements as defined by business, and document the desired solution and/or recommendations.
• Translate reporting requirements between business and the technology and tools necessary to deliver on those requirements.
• Develop reports, and underlying scripts and procedures, according to business requirements.
• Ensure a high level of quality by performing constant testing and reviews of reports implemented, including performance optimization of existing SQL code to enhance execution speed while maintaining report integrity.
• Interact with existing reporting resources to ensure a single reporting strategy is maintained.
• Collaborate with other technology teams and database administrators to maintain reporting continuity.
• Participate in the change process to improve testing efficiency.
• Formalize communication to ensure accurate reporting on deliverables.
• Ensure signoff on all reporting deliverables according to business specifications.
• Work in partnership with business analysts, product owners, and other IT and business personnel to maximize project delivery success.
• Report and estimate on development timelines.
• Continually build and enhance knowledge of reporting technologies and the reporting writing process by investigating and implementing new and innovative reporting writing methods.
