Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking an Intermediate SQL Administrator in Gauteng to manage SQL Server installations, perform performance tuning, and implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies. The role collaborates with development and infrastructure teams to ensure secure, reliable data services.

The ideal candidate has a solid background in SQL, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with security practices, backups, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

Grade 12 / Matric.
BSc Computer Science or equivalent (advantageous).
Proven experience in SQL code creation.
Demonstrated process analysis experience.
Solid systems understanding and test experience.

Responsibilities

Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server instances.
Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and tune queries for efficiency.
Design and manage high availability and disaster recovery plans.
Enforce database security policies and manage user access.
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams for upgrades and integration.
Troubleshoot incidents within defined SLAs and provide timely resolutions.
Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Contribute to database architecture planning and strategy.
