Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Database Administrator in Bloemfontein to manage SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring performance, integrity, and security. Responsibilities include installation, upgrades, monitoring, backups, and collaboration with development teams to support deployments.

The ideal candidate has a 4+ year track record in database administration, strong SQL skills, and experience with cloud services like AWS RDS or Azure SQL. A relevant bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Strong knowledge of SQL, database architecture, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL and NoSQL database servers.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies.
• Develop and execute backup and recovery procedures.
• Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including patching and health checks.
• Collaborate with development teams to support deployments and troubleshooting.
