Job summary

Guardian Recruiting (Pty) Ltd seeks a Specifications Representative to join the Gauteng team. You will engage with consulting engineers, architects, developers and municipalities to influence product specifications on diverse projects.

The role focuses on technical presentations, BOQ support, and ongoing relationship development to convert opportunities across commercial, residential and infrastructure segments in Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Specifications Representative within plumbing, sanitaryware, pipes and fittings, valves, construction materials, civil infrastructure or related building products industries.
• Demonstrated success in developing relationships with engineers, architects, consultants, developers and plumbing contractors.
• Strong presentation, negotiation and communication skills.
• Commercially minded with the ability to identify and convert project opportunities.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers, architects, designers, plumbing contractors, developers, municipalities and other key decision-makers to ensure products are specified on current and future projects.
• Promote both new and existing product ranges through technical presentations, product demonstrations and ongoing engagement with industry professionals.
• Identify and develop project opportunities, ensuring all assigned leads are proactively managed from specification through to project completion.
• Provide regular feedback on project progress and participate in strategy meetings to maximise conversion opportunities.
• Monitor market activity, competitor products and emerging industry trends, providing valuable market intelligence to the Sales and Marketing team.
• Maintain a high level of technical product knowledge through ongoing training and industry engagement.
• Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions and promotional activities.
• Assist merchants and the sales team with BOQ pricing, product specifications and technical proposals.
• Liaise with internal departments regarding project forecasts and anticipated product demand.
• Act as a professional ambassador for the business, consistently promoting the company's reputation, products and service excellence.
