Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for a Port Elizabeth primary school. You will lead SEND provision, develop tailored support plans, and collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies to create inclusive learning environments.

The role requires a relevant degree, SEN qualification (SENCO Certificate or Masters in SEN), substantial SEN experience, and strong communication and organizational skills to implement IEPs and maintain records in

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking primary school in Port Elizabeth , is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) . This vital role involves leading the provision of support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive appropriate interventions and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to create inclusive learning environments and develop tailored support plans. This position requires a deep understanding of SEN frameworks and a commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the school's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy.
  • Coordinate the provision of support for students with identified special educational needs.
  • Liaise effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and support needs.
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure appropriate differentiation and support within classrooms.
  • Maintain accurate records of SEN students, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with external specialists and agencies to provide comprehensive support.
Requirements
