Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Needs (SEN) Coordinator to lead support services for students with diverse learning needs in Durban. You will develop and implement tailored IEPs, collaborate with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure every student receives the support necessary for academic and personal growth.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree with SEN specialization, a minimum of 4 years of SEN experience, and strong knowledge of learning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or related field with Special Education specialization.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working directly with students with SEN.
  • Deep knowledge of learning disabilities, developmental disorders and interventions.
  • Familiarity with SEN policies and legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for students with SEN.
  • Coordinate with teachers to provide strategies and resources in mainstream classrooms.
  • Liaise with parents, guardians and external agencies for holistic support.
  • Conduct assessments to identify learning needs and recommend interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Coordinate with teachers to provide strategies and resources for supporting students in mainstream classrooms.
  • Liaise with parents, guardians, and external agencies (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists) to ensure a holistic support system.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students' learning needs and recommend appropriate interventions and accommodations.
  • Provide training and professional development to staff on best practices in SEN support and inclusive education.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student progress and support interventions.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field, with specialized qualifications in Special Education.
