Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Hybrid Tour Guide to lead engaging walking and driving tours in Soweto and surrounding areas, blending on-site guiding with remote preparation and communication. You will craft routes, scripts, and content, while ensuring safety and satisfaction for diverse visitors.

The ideal candidate excels in storytelling, public speaking, and has deep knowledge of Soweto/Johannesburg landmarks. A flexible hybrid schedule and opportunities for training are available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Tour Guide or in a customer-facing role.
• In-depth knowledge of Soweto and Johannesburg history and landmarks.
• Excellent storytelling and public speaking abilities.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of another local language is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead walking and driving tours of Soweto and surrounding areas, sharing historical and cultural context.
• Develop and update tour routes, scripts, and content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Manage group dynamics and ensure safety and satisfaction of all participants.
• Handle bookings, inquiries, and customer feedback using remote communication tools.
• Collaborate with local businesses and stakeholders to enhance the tour experience.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the region's history, landmarks, and current events.
