Job summary

Placements24 in Soweto is seeking a proactive Community Sports Officer to develop, organize, and deliver accessible sports programs across the Gauteng region. You will promote participation among residents of all ages, building healthy, active lifestyles through grassroots initiatives.

You will work with schools, clubs and community groups, manage equipment and facilities, recruit and train volunteers, and monitor impact for reporting. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in community development, sports development, or event management.
• Strong understanding of various sports and recreational activities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in program planning and project coordination.
• First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement community-based sports programs and activities for various age groups and abilities.
• Organize and coordinate local sports events, tournaments, and recreational leagues.
• Engage with community members, schools, and local sports clubs to promote participation.
• Manage sports equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and well-maintained.
