Job summary

Placements24 seeks a passionate Community Sports Development Officer to design, implement and manage community-based sports programs in Port Elizabeth. You will build partnerships with schools, NGOs, and local clubs to boost participation and wellbeing through sport.

The role requires a diploma or bachelor's in a related field and at least 3 years' experience in community sports development or event management.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Community Development, Education, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in community sports development, program coordination, or similar role.
• Experience organizing and managing sports events for diverse groups.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Knowledge of funding acquisition and grant management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for community sports development initiatives.
• Organize and coordinate sports clinics, leagues, tournaments, and other community events.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including schools, NGOs, government bodies, and sports clubs.
• Promote active lifestyles and health awareness through sports participation programs.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, reporting on outcomes and impact to stakeholders.
• Seek funding opportunities and manage grants to support community sports initiatives.
