Job summary

CFS Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef for a luxury safari and wellness retreat in Addo, Eastern Cape. This live-in role offers an opportunity to lead kitchen operations in a private, high-end environment with a focus on exceptional dining experiences.

You will support the senior team, craft seasonal menus, and ensure flawless service while maintaining top standards of food safety and presentation. Immediate start is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong relevant experience at a similar level.
• Experience in a luxury lodge, safari lodge, luxury hotel or high-end hospitality environment is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and menu planning.
• Willing to relocate to the Addo area of the Eastern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior kitchen team with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Assist with food preparation, cooking, plating and service across the property's daily operations.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and portion control.
• Contribute to seasonal, fresh and thoughtfully presented cuisine.
• Ensure the kitchen is prepared for daily guest meals and special dining experiences.
• Lead in the absence of the senior chef and mentor junior team members.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, wastage management and general kitchen organisation.
