Role Overview
The Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-level software solutions. This role exists to ensure that client business needs are translated into scalable, high-quality technical solutions while maintaining hands‑on involvement in development. The Solutions Architect provides technical leadership, mentors team members, and drives best practices, contributing directly to successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of complex, enterprise-level software solutions
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams
- Participate in hands‑on development to ensure alignment with architectural vision
- Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
- Define and enforce architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices
- Address non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, and availability
- Engage with clients to present solutions, provide recommendations, and gain buy‑in
- Mentor and support team members to enhance technical capability
- Ensure effective implementation of SDLC processes and delivery governance
- Take ownership of technical delivery, including risk identification and mitigation
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- 8+ years’ experience in C# development and software engineering
- Proven experience in solution architecture for enterprise systems
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design principles
- Experience applying architectural and design patterns (e.g., GOF)
- Solid experience working with RDBMS, including basic database administration
- Ability to design systems aligned to non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, etc.)
- Experience with .NET frameworks and/or exposure to Java technology stacks
- Ability to architect solutions in unfamiliar technology environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working across multiple industries and project environments
- Exposure to modern architectural styles (e.g., microservices, distributed systems)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and cloud-native architecture
- Experience with front-end/client-side frameworks and patterns
- Relevant architecture or technical certifications
Qualifications
- Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience
- Matric Mathematics (Higher Grade)
