Placements24 is seeking a Senior Solar PV Engineer to join our Benoni team. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of utility-scale PV projects, overseeing from site assessment through commissioning to ensure optimal performance and compliance with SA energy standards.

The role requires strong PV system knowledge, hands-on design and tooling experience, and a drive to advance renewable energy initiatives in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years' experience designing and engineering solar PV systems.
• Proficiency in PV design software (PVSyst, Helioscope) and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design and engineering of utility-scale and commercial solar PV systems, including system sizing, component selection, and layout optimization.
• Perform technical site assessments, energy yield estimations, and feasibility studies.
• Develop and review engineering drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and BOMs.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar PV plants, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during project execution and operation.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in solar PV technology, regulations, and industry trends.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Senior Solar PV Engineer to join their growing team in Benoni . This role is critical for the design, development, and implementation of large-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. You will lead technical aspects from site assessment through to commissioning, ensuring optimal system performance, efficiency, and compliance with South African energy standards.
