Job summary

redAcademy in Cape Town is seeking an Assistant Lecturer to support the facilitation and delivery of our Software Testing programme. You will combine technical depth with mentoring to ensure learners achieve academic excellence and workplace readiness.

Reporting to the Head of Lecturing, you will manage course materials, assessments, and QA processes, track learner progress, and assist with exams, moderation, and tutor support, while aligning with QCTO standards and programme quality.

Qualifications

• Higher Certificate (NQF 5+) in Software Quality Testing, Software Development, or Information Systems.
• 1–3 years in software testing or automation, with Cypress/Playwright/Selenium preferred.
• Experience in lecturing, tutoring, or mentoring in a technical setting.
• Familiarity with QCTO frameworks and learning management systems.
• ISTQB or QE/QA certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate lectures and practical sessions on Software Testing (Automation Testing using Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JavaScript).
• Mentor sprinters through coaching and one-on-one interventions.
• Track learner attendance, progress, and engagement; identify support needs early.
• Manage course materials and assessments on the LMS; ensure QCTO alignment.
• Assist with marking, moderation, and reporting to SETA and management.
• Contribute to internal QA processes to maintain delivery standards.
• Support academic events such as Demo Days, Open Days, and Graduations; showcase learner success.
• Provide examination support through invigilation and packing/uploading results.
• Coordinate with lead lecturer on weekly planning and curriculum tracking.
• Ensure meeting room readiness for sessions.
