We’re looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to provide strategic technical direction, lead multiple multidisciplinary engineering teams, and help shape a technology environment that is resilient, scalable and secure.
This is more than a people-management role. You’ll be a strategic technology partner to the Product Head, providing end-to-end technical leadership across delivery, engineering practices, platform health and modernisation.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how we engineer and operate technology at scale, while leading our teams through a meaningful cloud and platform transformation journey.
As Software Development Manager, you will:
- Provide end-to-end technical leadership across product and platform delivery, system health, engineering standards, support and maintenance.
- Lead, develop and grow high-performing, multidisciplinary software engineering teams.
- Create the conditions for predictable delivery by setting clear expectations, removing blockers and driving continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for how code is developed, tested, deployed and operated.
- Drive improvements across CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, reliability and modern platform engineering practices.
- Partner closely with architects to shape technical solutions and determine how those solutions should be implemented.
- Bring sufficient technical depth to challenge, guide and influence architecture and implementation decisions, while recognising architecture as a specialist discipline.
- Oversee technology governance across engineering teams and ensure appropriate standards, controls and practices are embedded.
- Drive technology modernisation through cloud computing, AWS, event-driven architecture, automation and platform engineering.
- Lead team transformation and reskilling initiatives as our technology landscape evolves.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across both technology and the broader business.
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring technology decisions translate into reliable business outcomes.
What we’re looking for

- Distributed systems, system reliability and observability.
- Architecture and technical strategy, with the ability to engage confidently with senior architects and influence solution design and implementation.
- DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering practices.
- Technology modernisation and cloud-native engineering approaches.
- Leadership & management
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related Engineering discipline.

- AWS Cloud Practitioner or an equivalent cloud foundation certification.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification is strongly preferred.
- FinOps, DevOps, Security, TOGAF, SAFe and/or Kubernetes certifications will be advantageous.
- An Honours degree or relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.
You’ll also have a proven track record of:
- Leading, developing and growing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Managing delivery effectively, setting the pace and removing obstacles.
- Building high-performing teams and creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Leading reskilling, organisational change and engineering team transformation.
- Managing senior stakeholders and communicating effectively with both technical and business audiences.
- Translating technical strategy into practical execution and measurable outcomes.
- Experience
You’ll ideally have:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3–5 years in an engineering leadership or technical management role.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary software engineering teams.
- A track record of delivering cloud-native solutions, preferably using AWS.
- Experience working with event-driven and distributed architectures in high-volume or highly integrated environments.
- Experience improving engineering maturity through DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering.
- Experience working closely with architects and senior technology stakeholders to shape and implement technical solutions.
