As a Software Asset Management Consultant, you will assess software and cloud portfolios, analyze licensing positions, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and risk.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in IT, business, finance or related field.
• +5 years experience in SAM/ITAM or technology consulting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret licensing metrics and consumption data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience with software licensing across Tier 1 vendors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct software licensing assessments across enterprise environments and cloud platforms.
• Analyze entitlement records, deployments, consumption data and contracts to establish ELPS.
• Identify compliance risks, licensing inefficiencies and cloud cost reduction opportunities.
• Review complex software agreements and licensing terms for cost governance.
• Develop executive-ready recommendations and business cases for cost savings and risk reduction.
• Support client audits, true-ups, renewals and commercial negotiations.

Role Description

As a Software Asset Management Consultant, you will work directly with enterprise clients to assess software and cloud portfolios, analyze licensing and contractual positions, and identify opportunities to optimize costs, reduce risk, and improve commercial outcomes.

You will participate in strategic advisory engagements covering software licensing, cloud consumption, vendor negotiations, compliance reviews, and technology governance. This role combines analytical thinking, client engagement, and commercial acumen, offering exposure to leading software vendors and cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct software licensing assessments across enterprise environments, including Microsoft, Oracle, VMware, SAP, Adobe, IBM, and cloud platforms.
• Analyze entitlement records, software deployments, consumption data, cloud usage, and contractual rights to establish accurate Effective License Positions (ELPs).
• Identify software compliance risks, optimization opportunities, unused subscriptions, licensing inefficiencies, and cloud cost reduction opportunities.
• Review and interpret complex software agreements, licensing terms, support contracts, and cloud commercial models.
• Develop executive-ready recommendations and business cases to support cost savings, risk reduction, and governance improvements.
• Support clients during software vendor audits, compliance reviews, true-ups, renewals, and commercial negotiations.
• Deliver client workshops, stakeholder interviews, and advisory sessions with IT, procurement, finance, legal, and executive teams.
• Produce high-quality reports, findings, presentations, and client deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Research and maintain expertise across software licensing programs, vendor strategies, product roadmaps, and emerging cloud commercial models.
• Manage multiple consulting engagements simultaneously while meeting quality, budget, and client expectations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• +5 Years Experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), technology consulting, software licensing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret software contracts, licensing metrics, and consumption data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and client engagements simultaneously.
• Advanced Excel and scripting skills.
• Experience working with enterprise clients in a consulting or advisory environment.
• Knowledge of software licensing across Tier 1 Software Vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Adobe, VMware, and IBM.
• Experience with SAM, ITAM, FinOps and software asset management tools.
• Exposure to vendor management, commercial negotiations, or technology governance initiatives.
