Ubuntu RM is seeking a qualified educator to teach Social Sciences (History and Geography) and Technology to Grades 7–9. The role focuses on developing critical thinking, practical skills, and an understanding of society and design.

Responsibilities include planning CAPS-aligned lessons, guiding Technology design projects, and assessing student progress while maintaining a safe classroom environment and engaging with parents and school activities.

Responsabilités

• Use maps, sources, case studies and projects to develop analytical and research skills.
• Set, administer and mark assessments, tasks and examinations, and keep accurate records.
• Monitor learner progress and provide support where needed.
• Maintain discipline and a safe, positive classroom and workshop environment.
• Communicate with parents, attend meetings and contribute to school activities.

Purpose of the role:

Teach Social Sciences (History and Geography) and Technology to Grade 7 - 9 learners, developing critical thinking, practical skills and a sound understanding of society and design.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver CAPS-aligned lessons in Social Sciences (History and Geography) and Technology
• Guide learners through Technology design projects, including investigating, designing, making, evaluating and communicating
• Use maps, sources, case studies and projects to develop learners' analytical and research skills
• Set, administer and mark assessments, tasks and examinations, and keep accurate records
• Monitor learner progress and provide support where needed
• Maintain discipline and a safe, positive classroom and workshop environment
• Communicate with parents, attend meetings and contribute to school and extra-mural activities

Minimum requirements

• Valid teaching qualification (B.Ed., or a degree plus PGCE) with Senior Phase specialization in Social Sciences and Technology
• Valid SACE registration
• 2 - 3 years' teaching experience in the Senior Phase
• Sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum
