Job summary

CSO Cape Town, through its SSD division, is seeking a responsible Security Officer for a Cape Town site. You will help ensure a safe, secure and well-maintained environment by controlling access, patrolling, and monitoring CCTV systems.

The role requires 3–5 years in security, Matric, and PSIRA Grade C with up-to-date certification. Strong communication, admin skills, and calmness under pressure are essential. Working hours include weekends and shifts.

Qualifications

• Matric qualification essential; relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 3–5 years security experience required; PSIRA Grade C with current certification.
• Strong communication skills and ability to compile reports for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Access control for location, pedestrian and vehicle.
• Patrol premises and monitor surveillance equipment to secure staff and visitors.
• Inspect buildings, equipment and access points for safety.
• Maintain occurrence books and document incidents accurately.

About The Organisation And The Role

The SSD is a division of the CSO Cape Town which is a community-based security and medical response organisation. They are looking for a responsible security officer to ensure that their assigned site provides a safe, secure and well-maintained environment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Access control for location – pedestrian and vehicle.
• Securing premises and personnel by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment.
• Inspections of buildings, equipment and access points.
• Maintenance of the occurrence book.

Required Skills & Experience

• Work experience and industry exposure
• Matric qualification essential, relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous
• Atleast 3 – 5 years’ experience in a security position is required
• Experience in a security environment essential with a minimum PSIRA Grade C with up to date certification.
• Strong Communication Skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to compile reports and manage internal and external stakeholders and service providers.
• Able to stay level headed in stressful situations and work well under pressure.
• Able to manage difficult situations and personalities in a calm and rational manner.
• Able to interact with individuals of all ages and cultures in a clear and respectful manner.
• Strong Administration Skills
• Organised and systematic with strong admin skills.
• Team orientated person with a calm disposition, able to stay levelheaded in stressful situations and work well under pressure.
• A flexible, self-driven person who takes initiative.
• General
• Valid firearm competency is advantageous.
• Drivers licence advantageous.
• Computer literate: Microsoft Outlook & Word and basic knowledge of CCTV
• A clean criminal record is essential as is sound physical health and fitness, willing to submit to an organisational fitness assessment.
