Job summary

iqx, the Technology Division of iqbusiness, seeks an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join the Sandton technology team. This 6-month contract role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and high-performing systems in a fast-paced environment.

You will automate operations, collaborate with devs for smooth releases, design scalable infrastructure, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and document processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong programming/scripting skills (Python, Java, or Go).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement automation solutions for system management and monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure reliable and seamless software releases.
• Design, maintain, and optimize scalable infrastructure environments.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application-related issues.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, processes, and runbooks.
• Drive continuous improvements in system availability, performance, and operational excellence.

This role is initially offered on a 6-month contract, with the possibility of converting to a permanent position based on performance and business requirements.

Skills and Experience required

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong programming and scripting skills using Python, Java, or Go.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of software development principles, IT operations, and infrastructure management.
• Experience working within cloud-based environments.
