iStaff (Pty) Ltd in South Africa seeks an experienced customs and logistics specialist to oversee international shipments from booking through dispatch. You will coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and warehouses to ensure timely, compliant delivery.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of HS tariffs and SARS requirements, plus experience with forwarders and clearing agents. SAP experience and FMCG background are preferred.

Qualifications

• Logistics, trade or supply chain degree or diploma required.
• 5+ years in customs, freight forwarding or shipping.
• Solid understanding of HS tariffs and SARS requirements.
• Experience with forwarders, shipping lines and clearing agents.
• SAP experience preferred.
• FMCG experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Oversee planning and coordination of international shipments from booking through to dispatch.
• Secure freight bookings with shipping lines, freight forwarders and transport companies.
• Liaise with warehouse teams to coordinate loading schedules and dispatch arrangements.
• Ensure shipments are prepared and ready for dispatch within agreed timeframes.
• Manage customs clearance processes and ensure adherence to SARS requirements and applicable regulations.
• Verify the correct application of tariff codes, permits and other customs-related requirements.
• Check shipping and customs documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Investigate and resolve freight, customs and shipment-related challenges that could disrupt operations.
• Maintain effective communication between internal departments and external logistics partners to ensure efficient shipment handling.
• Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, control logistics costs and enhance operational efficiency.
• Assess freight rates, transport routes and service provider proposals, considering cost, transit times, service quality and operational risks.
• Contribute to commercial and financial decisions relating to international freight, customs and logistics services.
• Analyse freight quotations and logistics expenses, identify potential savings and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Balance customer delivery expectations and service commitments with budget constraints and practical operational requirements.
