Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine invites applications for a senior mine shift role reporting to the Mine Overseer. The position focuses on monitoring ore extraction, allocating resources, and ensuring safe, cost-effective production in a trackless underground environment.

Applicants should have Grade 10, relevant blasting and shiftboss certificates, a Code 08 license, and at least 5 years underground mining experience, including 2 years in trackless operations.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 certificate is required.
• Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines / National Certificate: Hard Rock Underground is required.
• Shiftboss Certificate is required.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence is required.
• Advantageous: Mine Overseer Certificate.
• Advantageous: Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.

Responsabilités

• Monitor and control the ore extraction process by allocating and managing resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain production targets safely and cost effectively.
• Section 2.15.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).
• Ensure safe and cost-effective implementation of the mining cycle process and procedures; train staff and conduct PTOs to ensure competence.
• Ensure constant availability of resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain production targets; plan and schedule construction.
• Immediately report accidents/incidents to Control Room and Senior Shift Overseer.
• Investigate issues; complete accident/incident reports; implement preventative measures.
• Perform relevant risk assessments as required.

Our mine, situated in the Limpopo Province about 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort, and is a world-class producer of Chrome Ore.

The successful applicant will report to the Mine Overseer or nominee.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
• Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines / National Certificate: Hard Rock Underground.
• Shiftboss Certificate.
• Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
• Advantageous: Mine Overseer Certificate.
• Advantageous: Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

• 5 years underground mining experience of which two (2) years must be in a trackless mining environment as a Miner.
• Advantageous: 2 years previously appointed or has acted / relieved as a Production Shift Overseer.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Monitor and control the ore extraction process by allocating and managing resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain the production targets, safely and cost effectively.
• Section 2.15.1 legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996).
• Ensure safe and cost-effective implementation of and compliance to the mining cycle process and procedures. Train/coach staff on the above mentioned, and conduct PTO’s to ensure competence.
• Ensure constant availability of resources (people, equipment and machinery) to attain the production targets, safely and cost effectively. Keep construction up to standard by effective planning and scheduling thereof.
• Immediately report accident/incident to Control Room and Senior Shift Overseer.
• Investigate relevant issues. Completion of accident/ incident reports. Communicate and/or implement preventative measures. Follow up on implementation of preventative measures.
• Perform relevant risk assessments as and when required.
