Qualifications

• Grade 12 is the basic entry requirement.
• Mine Overseer's Certificate of Competence is essential.
• Blasting Certificate is essential.
• Mining Engineering qualification is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily Mine Overseer presence underground through an agreed shift arrangement.
• Conduct regular underground workplace inspections and monitor mining activities within the area of responsibility.
• Oversee, communicate with and guide underground supervisors and mining teams.
• Verify compliance with applicable legal requirements, standards, procedures and safety requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance and deviations; take immediate actions for MHSA breaches.
• Ensure deviations are assigned for corrective actions and closed out within 24 hours.
• Submit a daily report detailing observations, deviations and actions to the Head of Operations.

Bauba Resources has an opportunity for two experienced and certificated Mine Overseers to join the underground mining operation at Moeijelijk Mine.

The successful candidates will work on a rotational basis to ensure daily Mine Overseer presence underground, providing operational oversight, guidance and communication while ensuring that legal, safety and operational requirements are continuously monitored and addressed.

Job Purpose

To provide daily underground oversight by monitoring mining activities, guiding underground teams, verifying legal and safety compliance and identifying operational deviations, ensuring that findings are reported and corrective actions are closed out within the required timeframe to maintain a safe and compliant underground operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a daily Mine Overseer presence underground through an agreed shift arrangment.
• Conduct regular underground workplace inspections and monitor mining activities within the area of responsiblity.
• Oversee, communicate with and provide guidance to underground supervisors and mining teams.
• Verify compliance with applicable legal requirements, standards, procedures and safety requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance and operational deviations during underground inspections.
• Take immediate actions where MHSA breaches ocurred, including removing all personnel from the area and barricading and stopping access to affected area where required.
• Ensure identified deviations and non-conformances are assigned for corrective action and closed out within 24 hours, as required by the Head of Operations.
• Follow up on outstanding corrective actions and verify that identified issues have been satisfactorily addressed.
• Compile and submit a daily report to the Head of Operations detailing underground observations, findings, deviations, corrective actions and outstanding matters.
• Monitor adherence to safe working practices and approved mining standards.
• Communicate significant safety, legal and operational concerns to relevant management without delay.
• Participate in risk assessments, workplace inspections and other safety and compliance activities.
• Support the safe execution of production activities and ensure mining work is undertaken within approved standards and requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Valid Mine Overseer's Certificate of Competence essential
• Valid Blasting Certificate essential
• Relevant Mining Engineering qualification advantageous
• Minimum 10 years relevant underground mining experience
• Mine Overseer experience in an underground production environment
• Chrome mining experience will be advantageous
