Our client, a leading steel manufacturing company based in East Rand, is seeking a SHEQ Officer to provide dedicated operational support across Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a visible SHEQ presence within the operational environment, monitoring compliance with company procedures and legal requirements, identifying potential risks, and supporting the implementation of corrective and preventative actions.The role will work

Qualifications

• Diploma in Health and Safety Management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections and SHEQ compliance audits.
• Monitor adherence to SHEQ procedures, policies and legal requirements.
• Conduct behavioural safety observations and implement interventions.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances and assist with root-cause analysis.
• Monitor PPE compliance and safe working practices in operational areas.
• Identify SHEQ risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented and followed up.
• Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventative actions.
• Assist with SHEQ awareness campaigns, toolbox talks and employee training.
• Monitor contractor compliance with SHEQ requirements.
• Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Maintain accurate SHEQ records, reports and inspection documentation.
• Promote employee awareness and participation in SHEQ initiatives.
• Provide ongoing operational SHEQ support to management and employees.
• Maintain a visible presence on the factory floor and engage with employees on SHEQ matters.
• Support the SHEQ Specialist with audits, compliance initiatives and continual improvement.
