Job summary

Merand Recruitment is assisting a client in Cape Town to find a SHE Officer responsible for maintaining and improving Safety, Health and Environmental standards across the organisation. The role reports to the Operations Director and focuses on building a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will implement the SHE Management System, conduct HIRA analyses, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices for a production environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety or similar.
• 3-5 years' relevant SHE experience, preferably in manufacturing/food processing.
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and continuously improve the SHE Management System.
• Monitor compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental legislation and company requirements.
• Develop and monitor SHE policies, procedures, standards, and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate SHE records, registers, reports and statistical information.
• Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) and recommend corrective actions.
• Drive accident prevention and environmental impact reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate and facilitate SHE inductions, training and awareness programmes.
• Investigate workplace incidents and identify root causes with corrective actions.
• Oversee PPE programme, emergency preparedness and crisis management plans.
