Qualifications

  • National Senior Certificate is required.
  • NQF Level 7 / 3-year Degree or Advanced Diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • Relevant SHEQ/ISO qualification or certification is advantageous.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant SHEQ, Safety, Environmental, Quality or related experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing/ heavy industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain group SHEQ policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Oversee safety, health, environmental and quality requirements and risk controls.
  • Lead incident investigations and monitor corrective/preventive actions.
  • Oversee internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Identify and mitigate SHEQ risks and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • National Senior Certificate (Essential).
  • NQF Level 7 / 3-year Degree or Advanced Diploma in a relevant discipline such as Safety Management, Environmental Management, Engineering, Operations Management or Quality Management (Essential).
  • Relevant SHEQ/ISO qualification or certification (Advantageous).
  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in SHEQ, Safety, Environmental, Quality, Operations or a related environment.
  • Proven management experience with responsibility for people, compliance and functional delivery.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, heavy industry or a similar environment (Advantageous).
  • Intermediate to advanced SAP/ERP and MS Office proficiency, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • SHEQ Governance, Compliance & Management Systems: Develop, implement and maintain Group SHEQ policies, procedures, standards, management systems and compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with applicable legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
  • Health & Safety Management: Oversee occupational health and safety requirements, risk controls, occupational health and wellness processes, and corrective and preventative actions arising from incidents, audits and inspections.
  • Incident Management & Investigation: Provide specialist support during SHEQ incident investigations, ensure incidents are appropriately recorded, investigated and reported, and monitor implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • SHEQ Audits & Assurance: Develop and implement the annual SHEQ audit programme, oversee internal and external audits, review findings and ensure corrective actions are closed within agreed timelines.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess SHEQ risks, maintain relevant risk registers, monitor risk controls and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are implemented and escalated where required.
  • Quality & Environmental Management: Monitor compliance with applicable quality and environmental requirements, manage non-conformances and corrective actions, and support environmental and sustainability initiatives.
  • Communication, Training & Awareness: Develop and implement SHEQ communication and awareness programmes, coordinate SHEQ communication sessions and identify SHEQ training requirements in collaboration with Human Capital.
  • Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Management: Provide specialist SHEQ advice to management and relevant stakeholders, prepare SHEQ reports, present key risks, trends, audit findings and incidents, and ensure appropriate escalation of material risks and non-compliance.
  • People Management: Lead and manage the SHEQ team, set clear objectives and performance expectations, monitor performance, identify development requirements and promote a collaborative, accountable and high-performing culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement of SHEQ standards, systems and processes to enhance compliance, risk management and operational effectiveness.
