Job summary

Merand Corbett & Associates seeks a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) professional to implement and continuously improve the SHE Management System within a manufacturing setting. You will monitor compliance with legislation and company requirements, and develop, implement and review policies, procedures and safe work practices to ensure a safe workplace.

Responsibilities include HIRA, incident investigations, audits, training, contractor safety, emergency preparedness, and reporting.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Safety/Environmental Management or related field.
• 35 years' relevant SHE experiences, preferably within a manufacturing, food processing or production environment.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.
• Experience with hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA).
• Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain and continuously improve the SHE Management System.
• Monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company requirements.
• Develop and monitor SHE policies, procedures, standards and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate SHE records, registers, reports and statistics.
• Conduct and review HIRA and recommend controls.
• Drive accident prevention and environmental impact reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate and conduct SHE audits and inspections.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc SHE reports for management.
• Provide SHE guidance to operational teams and training as needed.
• Manage PPE programme and emergency preparedness plans.
