Job summary

Tetra Pak in Cape Town seeks an experienced Service Engineer to join our Customer Service Operations (CSO) team. You will lead installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of processing equipment across the Southern Africa region, traveling extensively to customer sites.

This role requires autonomy, strong technical skills in instrumentation and automation, and a commitment to food safety and OHS standards.

Qualifications

• Trade tested artisan or technician or ND in process instrumentation, millwright, mechanical fitter or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, commissioning, maintenance of processing equipment per global standards.
• Perform diagnostics and repairs on mechanical, electrical and automation systems to meet specs.
• Conduct root cause analysis and elevate complex issues through internal channels.
• Provide operator training at customer sites and ensure documentation.
• Ensure activities comply with Food Safety, QA and OHS procedures.
• Drive technical development and share knowledge with colleagues.

Job Summary

Weare seeking an experiencedService Engineerto join our Customer Service Operations (CSO) team. Based inCape Town, the successful candidate will deliver services and critical technical support to customers across theSouthern Africa region.This role requires a high degree of autonomy and involvesextensive travel (approximately 75%) to customer sitesoften at short notice. You will serve as a primary technical point of contact, ensuring the sustained reputation of Tetra Pak through exceptional service delivery and relationship management.

What you will do

• Technical Execution:Lead the installation, commissioning, preventive and corrective maintenance of Tetra Pak processing equipment and components per established global standards.
• Diagnostic & Repairs:Perform comprehensive analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical and automation systems to ensure equipment performs to defined specifications.
• Root Cause Analysis: Conduct systematic problem-solving tofacilitate permanent technical resolutions and elevate complex issues through our established internal channels.
• Operational Training: Facilitate production support and provide technical training to operator personnel at customer sites.
• Quality & Safety Compliance:Ensure all activities adhere strictly toFood Safety regulations, Quality Assurance protocols, andOccupational Health and Safety (OHS)procedures.
• Knowledge Leadership: Drive your technical development by obtaining &maintaining certifications on key components and processing modules. Activelyparticipate in the development of colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and lessons learnt.
• Administrative Diligence:Ensure the timely andaccurate submission of service reports, time logs, travel expenses, and formal correspondence.

We believe you have

• Education:Trade Tested Artisan / TechnicianorNational Diploma (Process Instrumentation, Millwright, Mechanical Fitter or similar).
• Experience:A minimum offive years of relevant technical experiencewithin theFood & Beverage industry.
• Technical Proficiency:
• Demonstrated ability in installing, maintaining and troubleshooting process instrumentation, mechanical equipment such as pumps and valves, and processing machinery such as Homogenisers, Centrifugal Separators and High Shear Mixers.
• Automation Skills:experience withSiemens S7-300 / 1200 / 1500 PLChardware and software skills will be an advantage.
• Methodology:Familiarity withWCM/TPM principles, such as Continuous Improvement, is an asset.
• A valid driver’s license and passport.
• A strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple internal & external stakeholders effectively.
• The ability to work independently and to lead a team of service engineers on larger assignments.
