Job summary

RPO Recruitment's client, a well-established engineering consulting firm, seeks a Senior Urban Infrastructure Design Engineer in Cape Town to lead design and project delivery of urban roads and underground municipal services.

You will oversee design quality, contract administration, and tender/cost-estimation activities while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering is essential.
• MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering is preferred.
• Professional Engineer registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 10 years post-registration experience in urban infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Experience with municipal infrastructure, urban roads, and underground services.
• Strong communication, coordination and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Civilsoft Bill and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Act as Contract Engineer / Employer's Agent for urban infrastructure projects.
• Prepare tender documentation and construction cost estimates.
• Lead design and quality management for urban roads and underground services.
• Perform contract administration duties in line with standard forms of contract.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and liaise with clients, stakeholders and authorities.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
• Ensure all work complies with company standards, client requirements and statutory regulations.
