Job summary

Gauteng Provincial Government invites applications for a senior role in Road Traffic enforcement at the Department of Community Safety in Johannesburg. You will develop and implement traffic law enforcement strategies, coordinate operations at congested areas, and supervise a team to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires extensive knowledge of traffic/policy, a Basic Traffic Diploma, Grade 12, 6–10 years in the field, and valid codes A and EC licenses.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 and a Basic Traffic Diploma.
• 6-10 years’ working experience in road traffic enforcement.
• Valid driving licences (Code A and EC).
• No criminal record.

Responsibilities

• Manage and enforce Road Traffic, Public Passenger, Transport Legislation and other relevant legislations.
• Develop operational strategies and implement approved traffic law enforcement strategies.
• Ensure free traffic flow through duty points and traffic control at congested areas; coordinate activities and safeguard accident scenes.
• Plan and manage speed testing operations.
• Coordinate arrests on traffic matters, attend court and give evidence.
• Issue notices to offenders and manage traffic policing projects.
• Advise on hazardous locations; participate in joint enforcement strategies.
• Lead subordinates and manage resources; monitor production and performance.
• Monitor budget and expenditure and implement corrective actions.
