Acuity Consultants, a leading South Africa fintech, seeks a Senior Test Automation Engineer to own automation strategy across products. You will build scalable frameworks using Playwright and RestSharp, drive AI-assisted testing and improve high-volume payment reliability.

This hands-on role blends automation with manual testing, design reviews, and mentoring to uplift testing standards in a fast-paced payments environment.

Formación

• 5+ years’ experience in automation or quality engineering.
• Experience designing and building scalable automation frameworks.
• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, Python or similar.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright and UI/API automation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally TeamCity and Bitbucket.
• Knowledge of API, integration, contract and performance testing.
• Experience with manual and exploratory testing.
• Exposure to fintech, banking, payments or transactional systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong debugging, root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing testing standards.
• Advantageous: AI-assisted testing, LLM-supported test design, k6, Allure, Datadog and test-data management.

An excellent opportunity for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to take ownership of automation strategy and quality engineering at one of South Africa’s leading payments fintechs. You’ll build scalable automation frameworks, introduce AI-assisted testing and improve the reliability of high-volume payment systems.

Based in Cape Town, hybrid work environment (2 days in office, 3 days wfh) offering up to R1.4M

THE COMPANY

This is a leading South African fintech enabling businesses and consumers to make fast, secure digital payments. Its platform supports high-volume transactions, making reliability, performance and security critical to its success.

THE ROLE

You’ll lead the development of test automation frameworks and quality engineering practices across multiple products, using Playwright and RestSharp for UI and API automation and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Working closely with Engineering, Product, DevOps and QA teams, you’ll shape automation architecture, establish testing standards and mentor an Intermediate Automation Engineer.

You’ll also introduce AI-assisted testing, optimise regression coverage and contribute to contract, integration and performance testing. This is a hands-on role combining automation engineering with manual and exploratory testing, requirements analysis and troubleshooting across front-end and back-end systems.

You’ll own the automation strategy, influence engineering standards and introduce modern AI-driven testing practices within a high-impact payments environment.

THE REQUIREMENTS

5+ years’ experience in automation or quality engineering.

Experience designing and building scalable automation frameworks.

Strong programming skills in C#, Java, Python or similar.

Hands-on experience with Playwright and UI/API automation.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally TeamCity and Bitbucket.

Knowledge of API, integration, contract and performance testing.

Experience with manual and exploratory testing.

Exposure to fintech, banking, payments or transactional systems.

Familiarity with cloud platforms, Docker and Kubernetes.

Strong debugging, root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.

Experience mentoring engineers and influencing testing standards.
