Placements24 is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer focused on automation for our East London client in the e-commerce space. You will design, implement, and maintain automated tests across web and mobile apps, driving quality through robust frameworks and CI/CD integration.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years in Quality Assurance with emphasis on test automation.
• Experience building automated scripts with Selenium WebDriver, Cypress or Playwright.
• Proficiency in Java, Python or JavaScript used for automation.
• Strong QA methodologies, test planning and test design.
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman or Swagger.
• Familiarity with Git and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• Nice to have performance testing experience (e.g., JMeter).

About the Role

Our client, a leading e-commerce platform provider, is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong focus on Automation . This role is based in our client's vibrant office in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA , and operates on a Hybrid model, allowing for a blend of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, executing comprehensive test strategies, and ensuring the highest quality of our client's web and mobile applications. This is a critical role for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our platform. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of QA methodologies, a passion for automated testing, and the ability to work effectively within an agile development environment. You will play a key part in delivering seamless customer experiences by upholding stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test scripts and frameworks using tools like Selenium , Cypress , or similar.
• Execute manual and automated test cases across web and mobile platforms.
• Identify, document, and track software defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
• Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies, including functional, regression, performance, and usability testing.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Analyze test results and provide detailed reports on product quality and testing progress.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and methodologies.
• Ensure test coverage meets project requirements and business needs.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and share expertise in automation and testing best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in software quality assurance and automation.
• Perform API testing and integration testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a significant focus on test automation.
• Proven experience developing automated test scripts using at least one major automation tool (e.g., Selenium WebDriver , Cypress , Playwright).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for automation, such as Java , Python , or JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and test case design.
• Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger).
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git .
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for a Hybrid role.
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter) is a bonus.
