Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Tender & Quotation Specialist to lead the preparation and submission of complex substation tenders in South Africa. You’ll collaborate with sales, engineering, supply chain, project management, legal, quality, and customer stakeholders to craft competitive technical and commercial proposals while ensuring compliance with business processes and customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 8–12 years in substation tendering, proposals, or project engineering.
• Solid knowledge of substations, products, systems, and solutions.
• Experience managing end-to-end bid and tender processes.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage medium- to high-complexity tenders from opportunity through final submission.
• Coordinate with operating units, engineering, project management, supply chain, legal, quality, HSE, consultants, and customers to ensure timely, high-quality proposals.
• Support bid qualification activities, including prequalification reviews for Bid/No‑Bid assessments.
• Develop tender strategies, target pricing approaches, and optimized technical solutions aligned with customer requirements.
• Review single-line diagrams, layouts, and substation configurations including AIS, GIS, and hybrid solutions.
• Assess technical specifications and validate primary and secondary equipment selections such as transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, earthing switches, instrument transformers, CRP, and SCADA.
• Collaborate with supply chain to evaluate vendor quotations and define sourcing strategies.
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical, commercial, contractual, and execution risks through structured risk reviews.
• Review commercial conditions, cash-flow requirements, and contractual inputs to support sound business decisions.
• Prepare and submit complete tender documentation in accordance with customer and company requirements.
• Ensure effective handover of awarded projects to execution teams.
