Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Architect to design and implement scalable telecommunications networks in Johannesburg. You will lead the development of high-performance LAN/WAN and wireless infrastructures, crafting topologies, addressing schemes, and security policies.

You will mentor engineers, evaluate emerging network technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure, and innovative connectivity solutions for diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/EE/Telecommunications; Master’s is a plus.
• Minimum 8 years in network architecture and design within telco.
• Proven expertise in IP-based networks with MPLS, BGP, OSPF.
• Hands-on with virtualization technologies such as NSX and ACI.
• Strong knowledge of security, VPNs, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with SIP, LTE, 5G and telecom standards.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, reliable telecommunication networks (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi).
• Create and maintain network topology diagrams and IP schemes.
• Evaluate new network technologies and vendors to meet needs.
• Collaborate with engineering, ops and product teams for seamless integration.
• Perform performance analysis, capacity planning, and troubleshoot issues.
• Develop and implement network security policies to protect data.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Manage vendor relationships and third-party solutions.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging tech.
