Placements24 seeks a Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage a critical telecoms network infrastructure in Upington, Northern Cape. The role focuses on day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and optimization of network devices and services to ensure reliable connectivity for diverse users.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of network administration experience, strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, routing, switching, and firewall management, plus relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network administration, with a strong focus on enterprise or telecoms networks.
• Proficiency with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), routing, switching, and firewall management.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and network security best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
• Monitor network performance, proactively identify potential issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
• Perform regular network security audits, implement security measures, and respond to security threats.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems, providing timely support to end-users and technical teams.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations, procedures, and diagrams.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations, minimizing disruption to services.
