Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our Richards Bay team in KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure to ensure reliability, performance, and security of connectivity services across the region.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of telecom technologies, 5-7 years of experience, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in telecommunications network engineering.
• Proven experience with routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, MPLS, VPNs, and other network protocols.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios).
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIE) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy complex telecommunications network solutions, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
• Perform network performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to ensure optimal system uptime and efficiency.
• Develop and implement network security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and upgrade existing network infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.
• Monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions.
• Document network configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Stay abreast of the latest telecommunications industry trends and technologies.
