Job summary

TSU Technical Solutions in Stellenbosch is seeking a Senior Technician for Access Control Systems (Installations & Maintenance). You will install, service and troubleshoot access control and alarm systems, working to ISO9000 standards and company SOPs.

The role requires hands-on experience with Paradox, DSC, Texecom and other brands, plus CCTV, networking, fault finding and documentation. You will be part of a professional team with a focus on quality, safety, and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in installing, troubleshooting and repairing access control systems.
• Alarm system installation and repairs with major brands.
• CCTV installation, cabling and testing.
• IP and analogue CCTV networking knowledge.
• PSIRA registered, with strong documentation skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot and maintain access control and alarm systems.
• Adhere to SOPs and ISO9000 standards.
• Provide remote support and be available for callouts.
• Ensure tools, test gear and calibration are kept up to date.

An overview of your duties

• As a technician you are responsible for the installation, service, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of access control systems and alarm systems in accordance with the company’s standard operating procedures.
• Adhere to and maintain technical standards and standard operating procedures
• Provide remote support as and when required
• Be available for call out
• Service the Company’s product portfolio as directed in an effective and cost-efficient manner
• To ensure that at all times tools and equipment are regularly maintained in good and safe working order and that test gear is regularly calibrated and labelled as required by ISO9000
• Maintain all documentation and ensure that records are up to date.
• Communicate appropriately with the Director TSU Technical Services to discuss new projects, receive work and report progress in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with established procedures
• To be aware of all contract possibilities and add on business opportunities
• To observe and promote safe working practices and help maintain depots in a tidy and workmanlike manner

The experience you should have

• In-depth experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repairing of access control systems
• Alarm system installation and repairs (Paradox, DSC, IDS, Texecom, Caddx, Ajax & other major brands)
• In-depth knowledge of alarm communicator devices and applications
• Electric fence installation and repairs
• CCTV (IP and analogue including cabling, installation, setup, programming, & troubleshooting), all major brands
• Experienced in working on networks
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software
• Strong team player
• Ability to work effectively without supervision
• Alarm, CCTV, Electric Fence, Access Control, Gate Motor knowledge
• Good technical skills and workmanship
• PSIRA registered
