Placements24 is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join a fully remote team based in Cape Town. You will manage and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, cloud platforms, and security, across on-prem and cloud environments.

The role requires strong technical aptitude and the ability to work autonomously in a distributed team. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in systems administration, proficient in Windows and Linux, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), virtualization, and scripting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration with a focus on server management and cloud technologies.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, including IaaS and PaaS services.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain server infrastructure (Windows, Linux) in on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
• Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and network issues.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect data.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

This role is crucial for managing and maintaining our client's critical IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and robust security.
