Placements24 seeks a Senior Subsurface Engineer to join its Sandton team. You will integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to optimize exploration, development, and production of oil and gas assets.

Lead subsurface evaluations, provide expert recommendations, and shape upstream strategy with a results-driven mindset. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in subsurface engineering, with expertise across reservoir engineering, geology, geophysics, and production theory.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or a related subsurface discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in subsurface engineering and asset management within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Expertise in reservoir engineering, geology, geophysics, and production engineering principles.
• Proficiency with integrated subsurface modeling and simulation software suites.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for Sandton-based role.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and interpret data from geological, geophysical, and engineering disciplines to build subsurface models.
• Lead evaluation of exploration prospects and development opportunities, assessing viability.
• Develop and refine field development plans, optimizing well trajectories and production strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align subsurface strategies.
• Conduct reservoir performance analysis, identify risks, and propose mitigation.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and JV partners.
