Job summary

Nicholas O’Dwyer Ltd is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Infrastructure Department and support the design and delivery of major civil projects. You will contribute across the full lifecycle from feasibility to handover, delivering buildable, safe structures and leading technical guidance for a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires 7+ years in structural engineering, strong knowledge of Eurocodes/BS, and capability to manage multiple priorities while delivering quality

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, BSc, MEng or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership or professional registration with a recognised body.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant structural engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, foundations and retaining structures.
• Experience delivering structural projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards; Irish/UK experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the structural design and delivery of infrastructure projects from feasibility through detailed design and construction support.
• Develop safe, efficient and buildable structural solutions for concrete, steel, masonry and retaining structures.
• Perform structural analysis and oversee preparation of drawings, specs, reports and tender docs.
• Coordinate internal and external design resources; collaborate with geotechnical, mechanical and electrical teams.
• Ensure designs comply with Eurocodes, BS and client standards and safety obligations.
• Manage work packages, budgets, resources, risks and deliverables to meet time, cost and quality objectives.
• Participate in client and design coordination meetings; provide technical guidance and resolve design issues.
• Support procurement and construction with technical queries and contractor submissions.
• Provide mentorship to engineers, graduates and technicians.
