Job description

We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect with deep expertise in payments and card systems to join a leading bank in Johannesburg. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who can design and implement end-to-end card/payment solutions while aligning with enterprise architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable payments and card system solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions across digital banking, card issuance, ATM/POS, and payment gateway integrations.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate strategy into technical architecture.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, regulatory standards, and security policies.
• Mentor engineering teams and influence senior stakeholders on architectural decisions.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in card and payment systems architecture.
• Familiarity with digital banking, ATMs, POS, card schemes (Visa/Mastercard), and payment gateways.
• Solid understanding of core banking integrations.
• Experience in hybrid environments (on-premise + cloud).
• Knowledge of data governance, reporting, and analytics in a banking context.
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Messaging & Integration: Kafka, MQ, APIs (REST/SOAP)
• Databases: SQL, NoSQL, RDBMS
• CI/CD & DevOps tools

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
