Job summary

Placements24 in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a Senior Solar Panel Technician to lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial PV systems. You will ensure safety, quality workmanship and reliable performance on site.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical background, PV knowledge, and trade certification, with experience using diagnostic/testing tools and reading diagrams. Mentoring junior technicians is part of the role.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Solar Panel Technician or similar role in renewables.
Solid understanding of electrical theory and PV systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
Trade certification in electrical or solar installation.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
Valid driver's license for on-site travel.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain solar panel systems, including mounting structures and inverters.
Perform inspections and diagnostics to identify faults and performance issues.
Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and implement repair solutions.
Adhere to safety protocols and local regulations on-site.
Train and mentor junior technicians on best practices and procedures.
