Placements24 is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems powering cutting-edge financial platforms, collaborating with a cross-functional team to shape technical direction.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with Python/Java/Go/Node.js, API design (REST/GraphQL), and cloud-native tech (Docker/Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years backend development experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; cloud platforms.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional backend software development experience.

• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Solid understanding of API design principles (RESTful APIs, GraphQL).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
