Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Software Engineer specialized in Backend Development to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs from anywhere in South Africa. You will mentor junior engineers and shape technical decisions in a collaborative, remote-first culture.

You will work with Python/Java/Node.js/Go, design RESTful services, manage databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB, and deploy containerized apps on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Proven expertise in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js, Go).
• Strong experience with designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, including relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in remote teams.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
