Job summary

Implats is seeking a Senior Rock Engineering Officer (D2) to lead the rock engineering service across the shaft, maximizing ore body exploitation while minimising rock-related risk.

You will ensure compliance as the competent person under Regulation 14.1(8) of the Mine Health and Safety Act and manage the Rock Engineering department, driving input to planning and operations with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Mandatory Code of Practice to combat Rock fall and Rock Burst Accidents is essential.
• Must have communication skills.
• Must have service & budget management skills.
• Must have problem solving management skills.
• Must have presentation skills.
• Must have numerical modelling skills.
• Conflict and dispute management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe mine and support design.
• Input into mine planning and operations process in a timely manner.
• Fulfil duties as head of Rock Engineering Department at the shaft.
• Adhere to the mandatory Rock fall and Rock Burst Code of Practice.
• Guide training personnel on strata control risks and hazards.
